It doesn't seem that long ago that we were going to vote on Betterton City Council positions and that of Mayor. As many of you regular readers may recall it was a hot time in the Town that year and we even had a League of Women Voter's Candidate Forum to better understand the positions of those seeking these critical seats. Thankfully, Mayor Candi Sorge once again bellied up to the bar and ran for Mayor, something that is not happening this time around.
For those who read the "notice" section of this past week's Kent County News, you may have seen the "Notice Town of Betterton Election." It is only 19 days away as of this writing and will take place on Saturday October 4th. This Saturday happens to coincide with the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, the holiest day for those of the Jewish faith. It is like holding an election on Christmas Day. Thankfully those observing this holiday as well as those who will not be in Town then can apply for an absentee ballot at the Town Office. These must be returned NO LATER THAN 6:00 pm, Saturday, October 4, 2014. For more information contact Annette Green at info@townofbetterton.com.
There are two Council seats open as well as the Mayor's chair. At present there are three contenders for the 2 Council seats and they are: Harry Marcy, Robert Pyfer, and Ken Traynor. Mayoral candidates are John Nicholson and Donald East Sutton. At the present time none of the candidates have shared their outlook for the future of B-Town and their personal goals with the B-Blogger. The Blogger does hope that our readers will encourage those candidates that they know to post their plans in the comment section below. Citizens of Betterton are welcome to pose questions for candidates, just keep your comments clean as any that contain foul language will be de-listed immediately. Perhaps Betterton's registered voters will get a personal knock on the door from the candidates to get to know them before Judy Kohl and her team count the final ballot.
It is not only up to the candidates but it is also your responsibility to vote, so make sure you do or forever, hold your peace.
